ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, Guam – The 2026 Air Force Assistance Fund (AFAF) campaign has officially launched at Andersen Air Force Base, running from April 3rd until May 15th. This year, Team Andersen aims to raise $18,917 to support fellow Airmen, Guardians, and their families through the fund's four official charities.
The annual campaign is the only Department of the Air Force-authorized fundraiser that is for Airmen and Guardians, by Airmen and Guardians. It serves not only as a crucial fundraiser but also as a key educational effort to ensure all members are aware of the resources available to them in times of hardship.
“While donations are crucial, a key objective this year is to ensure every leader on this base understands the resources the AFAF provides," said 2d Lt. Lauren Moran, this year's Andersen AFB AFAF project officer. "A leader who knows these programs can better support their people in a crisis. We want to equip them with the knowledge to not only donate but to actively help their Airmen when it matters most.”
Master Sgt. Vianney Hocog shared his personal experience with AFAF saying, “AFAF holds a close place in my heart. I was stationed at Tyndall AFB when Hurricane Michael hit, and it devastated us. I lost everything. There was a lot that happened afterwards and AFAF was my saving grace. I was in a dark place and AFAF got me out and put me in the right headspace to get me and my family back on track.”
The AFAF supports four affiliate charities, each with a unique mission:
- Air Force Aid Society (AFAS): Provides emergency financial aid, educational support, and community programs for Airmen, Guardians, and their families.
- LeMay Foundation: Awards financial grants to help surviving spouses of all Air and Space Force retirees remain in their homes.
- Air Force Villages Charitable Foundation: Offers housing and care for widowed spouses of retired Air Force officers, focusing on assisted living and memory care.
- Air Force Enlisted Village (AFEV): Provides a secure community home and support services for the surviving spouses of retired enlisted personnel.
