Col Andrew “Bull” Miller commands the 36th Contingency Response Group, Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, leading over 500 combat-ready Airmen across 5 squadrons. In this role, he directs PACAF’s sole Combat Communications, RED HORSE, Air Base Opening, Air Advising and expeditionary Security Forces capabilities. He directs Building Partnership Capacity initiatives through USPACOM exercises, OPLAN integration, and Subject Matter Expert Exchanges. Separately, Colonel Miller is the Senior Airfield Authority for Andersen’s Northwest Field and responsible for the Pacific Regional Training Center - Andersen, including two landing zones, a drop zone, an EOD explosives area, and a diverse set of formal training courses including Commando Warrior, Jungle Radio, and Silver Flag, graduating nearly 4000 students annually.
Previously, he served as the Chief of Air Mobility Command’s Joint Exercises Division, overseeing prioritization, development, and command integration into over 100 joint and service-level events annually, while developing Exercises MOBILITY GUARDIAN, ULTIMATE DISTRIBUTION, and REFORPAC. Prior to that, he was a Strategic Planner in the J5, Strategic Planning & Policy Directorate, USINDOPACOM, where he guided joint, interdisciplinary groups in planning for the region’s most challenging national security threats while developing Combatant Command-level policies and orders. Earlier, he served as the Commander of the 61st Airlift Squadron at Little Rock AFB.
Colonel Miller earned his commission from the Virginia Military Institute in 2004. He served in multiple flying assignments and is a June 2013 graduate and subsequent Instructor Cadre member of the USAF Weapons School, and a 2018 graduate of the US Army School of Advanced Military Studies. His combat experiences include multiple deployments in support of Operations EASTERN BRIDGE, ENDURING FREEDOM, IRAQI FREEDOM, and FREEDOM’S SENTINEL, as well as an Expeditionary Airlift Squadron Command.
Colonel Miller is a command pilot with over 3,000 hours of flight time including C-130E, C-130H, and C-130J aircraft, and more than 650 in combat.
