The 36th Force Support Squadron Magellan Inn Dining Facility operations are temporarily relocating to Top of the Rock starting July 29.

The dining facility is going through a year-long renovation process to repair the facility's electrical infrastructure and plumbing.

"We will have the same quality food, hours and food service -- just a location change," said Master Sgt. Julia Bruner, 36th FSS food service section chief. "Airmen should not be impacted by anything other than distance."

The Magellan Inn staff will serve the last meal at July 29 at 1:30 a.m., with the first meal from Top of the Rock being served at 5:30 a.m. the same day.

Private contractors will lead the way in the repairs after Magellan Inn operations cease.
"We have too much equipment overloading the power sources," Bruner said. "By repairing the electricity, the equipment will be able to meet and possibly exceed its lifespan, hopefully without need of further repairs."

The other squadrons in the 36th Mission Support Group lent out helping hands in an effort to ensure a flawless transition into the Top of the Rock.

With the support of the other units, the switch is only expected to take one weekend instead of multiple weeks.

"We are all coming together as a team to get this job done as quickly as possible," Bruner said. "We are just so grateful for all the assistance they are giving us."
