For three weeks, Andersen AFB provided KC-135 Stratotankers and B-52 Stratofortresses in support of Australia's East Coast Air Defense Exercise, held in order for the Australian military to practice different scenarios in air defense in preparation for them receiving refueling air craft in the near future.

More than 25 missions were completed despite the rainy and windy weather conditions.

The exercise allowed our troops to practice certain techniques and scenarios, as well as work with other nations to accomplish the exercise.

For the exercise, aircraft and aircrews were forward deployed to Australia to support the refueling needed and to simulate the capabilities not yet obtained by the Australians.

The B-52s provided opposition forces for the exercise, performing simulated strikes on the island while aircrews worked with the Australian government on their defense posturing.
