Team Andersen is mission ready Published May 29, 2007 By Staff Sgt. Chris Powell 36th Wing Public Affairs ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, Guam -- Members of the 36th Wing and the 254th Air Base Group underwent a unit compliance inspection last week and received "Satisfactory" and "Excellent" ratings, respectively. The 254 ABG was lauded one of the best Guard units seen to date. The 254 ABG had their services flight rated "Outstanding" for their second UCI in a row. Four other units were rated "Excellent" and three were "Satisfactory." For the 36 Wing, there were 13 squadrons or offices rated "Excellent," four rated "Satisfactory" and two rated "Marginal." "We are pleased to report to General [Paul] Hester that the 36th Wing has successfully completed its compliance inspection and Team Andersen is "Prepared to Prevail," said Maj. Nick Avlonitis, a UCI team member, during Tuesday's UCI outbrief. The inspection assessed areas mandated by law as well as mission areas identified by senior Air Force and MAJCOM leadership as critical or important to assure the health and performance of organizations. "I bring you congratulations from General [Lt. Gen. Lloyd] Utterback, and I congratulate you on the successful completion of this, as well. For all those who rose above and received super-high marks, he's extremely proud of you, as am I," said Brig. Gen. Douglas Owens, 36th Wing commander. While the majority of units were rated "Excellent," General Owens acknowledged there's still work to do. "We have many challenges that we are facing out here," the general said. "I am proud of what we do, but I also recognize that this is not easy in any way, shape or form." However, the general agreed with the UCI team's message that Andersen is ready for the fight. "'Prepared' means that we are ready. We stand on our readiness, we do what we need to do to be ready at a moment's notice to fly, fight and win," he said. "And 'Prevail' means that we will do it until we are victorious. We meet standards, but I dare say that any of you are satisfied with a satisfactory rating for the wing. "Every moment of the day -- 24 hours a day, seven days a week -- we stand here ready and Prepared to Prevail," General Owens said.
