Military members, Guam community run for heroes

Approximately 1,000 members of the Guam community, including military members and families, gathered at the United Seamen's Service in Piti, Guam, for the 2007 United Service Organizations Run for Our Heroes 5K Run/Walk.

At 6 a.m. Brig. Gen. Douglas Owens, 36th Wing commander, sounded the horn which started the race, and within minutes an Andersen Airman was back at the finish line.

Capt. Michael Lilly, 36th Mobility Response Squadron, took first place in the male submaster division and overall. 

Awards were presented to the top three male and female finishers in seven divisions and to the fastest overall male and female.  There was also a raffle drawing with a plethora of prizes, including two airline tickets, various hotel stays and U.S. savings bonds.

Winners and finishers included:

- Under-13 female: Carmela Tyquiengco, first; Quincy Tougher, second; Ariel Ko, third.

- Junior men: Robert Fry, first; Steven Wong, second; Chris Cho, third.

- Junior women: Susan Smith, first; Auri Fry, second; Johanna Jorgensen, third.

- Open men: Zion Anderson, first; Richard Rodriguez, second; Marc Ocampo, third.

- Open women: Megan Welch, first; Joice Fevid, second; Rachael Hogue, third.

- Submaster men: Michael Lilly; Todd Crooks, second; Camaron O'Neal, third.

- Submaster women: Lisa Mason; Ann Sungga, second; Emilie Fidler, third.

- Master men: Mike McMurray, first; Rodney Bordallo, second; Lance Rocks, third.

- Master women: Shannon Cutting, first; Kristi Payne, second; Sarah Marrison, third.

- Senior men: Frank Sweiding, first; Pablo Cercenia Sr., second; Florenzo Fejeran, third.

- Senior women: Maggie Greenwood, first; Christine Taitano, second; Eva Tanag, third.
- Grandmaster men: Richard Harvey.

- Grandmaster women: Julie Yamamoto.
