NBC's Fear Factor is known for its outrageous stunts and truly vile challenges. Thanks to the creative minds at the 36th Services Squadron, Andersen has its own version of Fear Factor where the stunts are just as shocking.

Andersen's Fear Factor is scheduled to be held 10 a.m. July 19 at the field adjacent to the base pool. The event will begin with a challenging obstacle course. The four men and four women with the best times will advance to the Fear Factor finals. The winner will receive a roundtrip ticket to Hawaii.

Now an annual event, Andersen Fear Factor debuted in June 2006. The event was inspired by the popular television show.

Last year's contestants qualified by navigating an obstacle course. The remaining competitors then plied their archery skills to determine which out of six gross dishes they would have to devour. The final event featured an obstacle course, consisting of a tricycle ride thru a series of cones using "beer goggles," pulling an ATV 20 yards, grating 1/2 cup of coconut using a Guam-made coconut grater and retrieving six live land crabs from a tub barehanded.

Competitors must be 18 years of age or older; all who wish to compete may register at the Hotspot, or call 366-2339 for more information.
