Members of Team Andersen gathered at Hangar 1 Jan.3 for this year's Tops In Blue performance. The crowd was especially excited because this year one of our own was amongst 20 performers participating in the 2008 world-wide tour themed Deja Blue.

Staff Sgt. Oliver Dagum, passenger supervisor for the 734th Air Mobility Squadron, was selected as one of 56 candidates accepted into the world-wide competition at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, and finally selected as one of the 20 performers to participate in this year's tour.

Sergeant Dagum was selected for the team after participated in 10-day world-wide competition in which the U.S. Air Force's best vocalists, performers, instrument players and dancers were selected.

"But just because you won the competition didn't necessarily mean you were going into Tops in Blue," he said. "There were a lot of good people there, but it came down to talent and positive attitude."

"Team Andersen is my family, but Top in Blue is my new family and I appreciate all of the support that my family and I receive from Andersen and the 734th AMS while I'm on tour," said Sergeant Dagum.

The team trained for two months learning choreography, practice vocals, and learning how to set up and tear down their stage before the first show at Lackland AFB May 18. Before all is said and done, the team will have preformed more than 120 shows in over 93 different locations.

"Tops in Blue is such an incredible and unforgettable experience," Sergeant Dagum added.

This year, Tops in Blue celebrates its 55th year in entertainment. According to the Tops in Blue mission statement the organization serves as expeditionary entertainment unit to provide quality entertainment from within the Air Force resources for the Air Force family to personnel stationed world-wide including remote and deployed locations while simultaneously promoting community relations, supporting recruiting efforts and serving as ambassadors for the U.S Air Force.

The team's next performance is Jan. 5th at Hickam Air Force Base. Hawaii.
