337 - TLA Entitlement

How much will I receive for Temporary Lodging Allowance (TLA)?

Lodging and per diem rates are available at www.dtic.mil/perdiem/index.html under the rates and allowances heading.

TLA amounts are based on whether or not your lodging has or does not have cooking facilities. It also considers if you're accompanied or unaccompanied, if accompanied the ages of your children will affect your entitlement.

Unaccompanied members receive 65% of the max lodging and per diem rate.

Accompanied members receive 100% of the max lodging and per diem rate for member and spouse, an additional percentage is added based on dependents age (35% over 12 years and 25% under 12 years).

For example, a family with two children under 12 will receive up to 150% of max lodging and per diem rates. But, the per diem rate is affected by the availability of cooking facilities.

Lodging with cooking facilities - per diem 50%
Lodging without cooking facilities - per diem 100%

What is considered cooking facilities?
The presence of a cook stove, work area (table, counter, etc.), refrigerator, sink, water, table, chairs, and cooking and eating utensils (i.e., all of the foregoing items) is evidence of adequate cooking and eating facilities.
