Andersen Air Force Base and members of the Guam community will celebrate the 66th Anniversary of the Air Force by hosting the Air Force Ball on Sep. 20, 2013 at Leo Palace Resort in Yona, Guam.

This year, volunteers wanted to make the event different from the usual military function by creating a more exciting setting with the theme of "honor the warfighter."

"We want as many people as possible to attend the ball to celebrate the birthday of (the Air Force)," said Master Sgt. Alicia Mason, 36th Communications Squadron Freedom of Information Act and Privacy Act manager. "The Air Force is the Department of Defense's newest branch; being able to celebrate the Air Force's birthday with Air Force Air National Guard, Air Force Reserve and the local community is an exciting event."

She said that thanks to the hard work of this year's Air Force Ball committee and generous donations from the event's sponsors, the ticket cost has been reduced and can be purchased through squadron points of contact.

Additionally, child care will be available for children older than 2 years of age. Slots are on a first come, first served basis. The care providers are all child CPR certified. Snacks and age-appropriate activities will be provided. Reservations must be made by Sept. 13 by calling Staff Sgt. Cynthia Waseta at 366-6415 or Tech. Sgt. Michelle Clinton-Hahn at 366-3199.
Mason said she thinks this will be one of the best balls Andersen has seen to date thanks to all of the hard work of the volunteers.

"We are very lucky to have a good team working to set this event up," Mason said. "Everyone that is helping with this year's function is working so hard to make this function fun."

The Air Force Ball will take place on Sep. 20 at Leo Palace. The night will begin with cocktails at 6 p.m. and dinner begins in the Zefrio Ballroom at 7 p.m.
