For those who love to shop, this is a dream come true.

Within two years Andersen will have a large, new and improved Army and Air Force Exchange Service Base Exchange.

This building will be located directly across from the new shoppette.
It will have approximately 60 percent more space, which is more than Andersen's current shopping center.

For those who cannot imagine the size of this vision, understand that the Navy Exchange is 90,000 square feet. In two years, the total complex size of Andersen's base exchange will be 182,000 square feet.

"It'll have everything under one roof," said Gilbert Mata, general manager. "We'll have Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, Baskin Robbins, Subway, Charlie's Steakery, the furniture store, Four Seasons ... all will be in that shopping complex."
There will be an increased selection in all departments. The mall will include the barber shop, beauty salon, and an optical shop will also be added.

"I'm excited," said Airman 1st Class Erica Walker, 36th Munitions Squadron. "We need a bigger BX. This one doesn't have a lot of selections, and it will definitely save me some time from going down to Big Navy."

There will even be a children's playground inside the mall.

"There will be something for everybody and it'll be very modern compared to what we have right now," said Mr. Mata. "Andersen's long overdue for a shopping center to meet the needs here."

The ground breaking ceremony for the new BX was held Thursday at 1 p.m.
