Andersen's scouts made a positive impact in the local community on the island of Guam during the Thanksgiving holiday.

Andersen AFB Pack 20 volunteered nine hours between Nov. 17 and 18 at the Commissary, calling on patrons to make food donations in an effort to help make a difference in the Yigo village.

Contributors donated 661 items of food to include 210 pounds of rice.

The Pack's Scouting for Food Chairperson, Lisa Smith, used the monetary donations during the drive to purchase non-perishable food for the sister village. She also solicited Andersen's Boy Scout Troop 20 to assist the Pack with the delivery of several hundred pounds of food collected for the Yigo village pantry.

Mayor Robert Sanchez Lizama graciously accepted the donation on behalf of Yigo village. He praised the boys for their efforts. Approximately 20 families were selected to receive food.

The Scouts of Andersen would like to thank the Andersen community and the many other patrons of the base commissary for their generous donations.
