By participating in a joint reenlistment, members of the Air Force and Navy proved that friendly rivalry is just that, friendly.

Navy Lt. Cmdr. Willis Arnold, Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station Guam executive officer, reenlisted Air Force Tech. Sgt. Andrew Campos, 554th RED HORSE Squadron electrical section NCOIC, at the Tarague overlook Mar. 2 here.

Team Andersen and Naval Base Guam are currently transitioning to become Joint Region Marianas.

Reenlistments in the past were rarely performed by sister services, according to Sergeant Campos. He believes this is soon to change.

"It's a rare occurrence, at least in my experience to see sister services give the oath of enlistment to each other," Sergeant Campos said. "I consider it an honor to be given the oath by Lt. Cmdr. Arnold. I think now with the bases going joint we will see more reenlistments between the sister services."

Commander Arnold considers the reenlistment a sign that joint basing is a good idea.

"Being able to reenlist my sister service comrades is definitely a benefit of joint basing," Commander Arnold said. "By doing things such as joint reenlistments, we are able to prove that we not only can do our day-to-day duties together, but we can also do the fun stuff together."

This is Sergeant Campos's third reenlistment, and he is still moved to serve his country.

"I still feel it an honor to serve both my country and the Air Force," Sergeant Campos said. "I love my job in the 554th RHS."
