This week, the 36th Mission Support Group highlights the 36th Communications Squadron's airfield systems section.

Airfield systems section provides premier communications, information and airfield systems services to enable decisive airpower across the entire spectrum of engagement.

The Airmen of airfield systems are responsible for supporting the 36th Wing in continuous air traffic control, instrumental landing and navigation and local weather data collection capabilities for aircraft missions and runway approaches.

"We provide communication support to the Global Hawk Detachment 3, U.S. Navy Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron TWO FIVE and aircraft deployed to the Continuous Bomber Presence and Theater Security Package," said Tech. Sgt. Jennifer Brown, 36th CS airfield systems noncommissioned officer in charge. "Aircraft heavy exercises, such as Cope North and Valiant Shield, keep us on our toes and help us maintain our constant state of readiness."

Airfield systems aim to maintain a seamless launch and recovery flight safety standard of operation. The Airmen also support U.S. Pacific Command exercises and operations in flight planning involving ground navigation and weather data parameters for aircraft and sorties.

"We need to provide the aircraft units with communications support regardless of regional obstacles," said Sergeant Brown. "Though this may be tough with Guam's sporadic weather, with our high standards, we are prepared to overcome obstacles and support contingency missions."

Airfield systems maintenance technicians troubleshoot every air traffic command and control maintenance issues.

Sergeant Brown said that these Airmen are the airfield system's most valuable assets.

"With our team of six, everyone has their own niche, their own talents to support the working group and the numerous aircraft that need communication support and maintenance," said Sergeant Brown. "Their dedication, teamwork and awareness of the importance of their role allow us to fulfill our duties and accomplish our mission on a daily basis."

The working group continues to support communications to promote the highest level of safety in flight and airfield operations through any weather, 24/7, 365 days a year.
