Equal Opportunity

The Equal Opportunity (E.O.) Program is a function of leadership and command based on fairness, equity, and justice. The DoD Human Goals Proclamation forms the basis for the Air Force Equal Opportunity Program. It stipulates that equal opportunity and equity in civilian employment regardless of race, color, sex, religion, or national origin will be provided as an integral part of readiness.

The primary objective of the Air Force Equal Opportunity program is to improve mission effectiveness by promoting an environment free from personal, social, or institutional barriers that prevent personnel from rising to the highest level of responsibility possible. The program seeks to eliminate unlawful discrimination against military personnel, family members, and retirees based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex; and since merger between the military and civilian programs, mental/physical disability and age.

In some cases, Alternative Dispute Resolution is an option that the E.O. office may use to facilitate communications between disputants and lead to early resolution of informal cases. Facilitation is the ADR technique authorized to resolve informal E.O. complaints. For further information, contact the E.O. office.

The 36th Wing Equal Opportunity office supports mission readiness by ensuring individuals receives an equal opportunity to fully use their abilities and talents toward mission accomplishment. In this regard, the professional E.O. staff provides complaint resolution, management consultation, and referral services to active-duty members, their families, retirees, and federal employees. The staff also provides human relations and sexual harassment education awareness training.

The E.O. office, located in building 22005, is open weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and offers both walk-in and by-appointment service. For more information call (671) 366-5111. After duty-hours or on weekends, call the Command Post, who will in-turn contact an E.O. professional.

In the unlikely event the Wing Equal Opportunity staff in unavailable, please contact the Air Force Unlawful Discrimination and Sexual Harassment Hotline at 1-800-616-3775 or (210) 565-5000, DSN: 665-5000.
